Dear Valued WordMark Customer:
We’ve completed testing of WordMark for the next millennium. Although earlier tests indicated that WordMark is Y2K compliant, we have realized that additional modifications need to be completed. We recommend the upgrade to the WordMark Y2K kit to be year 2000 compliant.
We’re done our best to keep the costs for the upgrade kit to a minimum. We have no choice but to pass along some of these costs to our customers. We can’t avoid it if we want to keep the WordMark product active for years to come. What we can avoid is significant upgrade charges to our customers on the maintenance program. The majority of the expenses will be passed along to non-maintenance customers.
Enabling Codes (dates) Eliminated
As most of you know, WordMark requires re-enabling the product on an annual basis. The WordMark Y2K upgrade kit eliminates this procedure and the product will no longer require the annual codes after initialization. It should be noted, that every WordMark user will have the message, "Demonstration period is about to expire, call WordMark" displayed on their monitor 5 to 7 days before the end of 1999. The enabling code process causes this as all codes expire 12/31/99. The codes will now be eliminated in the Y2K upgrade kit. Use of the product after this period, without the Y2K kit, may cause erratic behavior and unexpected results may occur. Or, the product may not function due to the enabling code expiration.
Please Respond Quickly
In order to continue WordMark into the next millennium, we ask that you respond quickly. If you are under the maintenance program you received a separate document outlining the details of the upgrade and the associated costs. If you are not under the maintenance program or if the upgrade is ordered after December 31, 1999, the upgrade fee is $4,995.00 (U.S.) and prepayment is required. Credit card and wire transfer services are available. Please send your request to: info@multivalue.com
WordMark has licensed over 500,000 users since 1980 and the activity, as noted in the paragraph above, could become rather hectic the last week of this year. Thank you for understanding our Y2K issues.
Sincerely, WordMark Product Marketing
